Fitness & Aquatics at the Y

Fitness Programs

From Personal Training to specialized programs aimed at combating diseases, the Y has it all! If you are interested in one-on-one routines or need just a little structure to get you going on your own, you will find it here! Got a Teen? There’s even some programs for them!

Spinning® at the Y

This one hour group workout will strengthen your cardiovascular system and improve muscular strength and endurance while riding on specialized bikes accompanied by fun and motivating music.

What to Bring and Wear

  • Bring a towel and water bottle
  • Padded bike shorts, cross trainer or bike shoes, and heart monitor are recommended

Reservation Guidelines

  • Only currently active Maui YMCA Members are allowed to make reservations
  • Call the Welcome Center at 808-242-9007 or reserve online through the button below up to 5 days in advance from the current day
  • Cancellations must be made at least 1 hour prior to the start of class with the Welcome Center or by deleting your reservation online
  • Please note that there is a $25 No Show Fee should you fail to show up for your reserved time

Racquetball/Handball at the Y

Racquetball and handball are played in a four-wall court where each player is required to keep the ball in play by hitting the ball back to the front wall after one bounce. Matches are usually the best out of three games, with racquetball games played to 15 points and handball games played to 21 points.

  • Approved eye protection strongly recommended
  • Court or non-marking shoes only

  • Reservations can be made five days in advance from current day
  • Reservations are for one hour and start on the hour

Water Aerobics

This highly effective aerobic and toning class is a total body workout in the cool of the pool. A relaxing alternative to land exercise! Free for Y Members!

Adult Private Swim Lessons

A great alternative to a class environment, our private lessons accommodate your busy schedule. All levels are welcome.

Pool & Lap/Open Swim Rules

  • All participants using the swimming pool must shower before entering pool.
  • No person shall be allowed into the pool with an infectious or communicable disease.
  • No running, spitting, pushing, or horse playing allowed.
  • Appropriate swimming suits must be worn when entering the pool area.
  • Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swimming diaper.
  • No diving or jumping backward allowed.
  • All children 12 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Lap swimming will be done in a clockwise direction. Please pick a lane according to your swim ability.
  • If a child is unable to swim, the parent must go in to the pool with the child.
  • No glass containers allowed on pool deck.
  • If there are two swimmers in a lane, they may split the lane until a third swimmer joins them. The first person to enter that lane has the choice of splitting or circle swimming.
  • When three or more swimmers are in one lane, they must swim in a clockwise direction with their right-side swimming close to the lane line.
  • Make sure that proper circle swim etiquette is followed (faster swimmers go first, slower swimmers follow).
  • Lanes are divided by speed. Check the lane sign for the designated speed. All swimmers must swim in the appropriate lane.
  • During designated lap swim hours, adults are the primary participants in the lanes. A child may use the lap swim lanes if they are: swimming in a proper manner, not interfering with other lap swimmers in that lane, other adults are not waiting to use that lane.
  • During scheduled hours, water exercise classes will use 2-3 lanes depending on the number of class participants and pool availability (i.e. other scheduled classes or lessons). Lifeguards are to clear the lanes and move the lane lines 5 minutes prior to the start time of the class.
